OUT WITH THE OLD AND IN WITH THE NEW

Parker District Fire Department held its' groundbreaking ceremony on March 4th, 2010 at the original location of Station 1 (101 Cedar Lane Rd, Greenville, SC). Station 1 was built in May of 1942 and had been added on multiple times, it has served as the districts headquarters for all these years. The new Station will include the administrative offices, communications center, an EOC (Emergency Operations Center), and of course fire trucks and firefighters. The new station is expected to be completed in approximately 8 months.

The Commissioners and the Chief have been diligently working to get this plan into action for quite some time. Everyone is dedicated to building the new station to protect and ensure the safety of the citizens and visitors of the community and making it a most efficient working structure.

"Stay Fire Smart! Don't Get Burned" was the theme of Fire Prevention Week 2009. Parker District Fire Department's campaign was extremely successful and rewarding. We had over 1,100 children and adults attend and participate in various activities and competitions. Of course, Sparky the Fire Dog made an appearance as well as Spiderman. The puppet show really captured the children's attention and helped educate them more about fire safety. Gateway Elementary even went out of their way to make the firemen a huge banner, posters and cards to thank them for such a great experience. CiCi's Pizza, Pepsi and Perdue's Mountain Fruit Farm were among the few that contributed to support this successful event and their generosity was greatly appreciated. Overall, Fire Prevention Week for Parker Fire Department was a total win!
